Paying debtors without the "middleman"?

O.k. I want to start paying off my debt but I heard that going the route of credit counseling com. will only take their portion of money for services when it could be used to pay more on your debt. I talked to one and told them that the credit card com. was offering a lower pay off balance if I just set up a monthly plan with them.

So I tell this to a counselor and she says that just b/c they say that doesn%26#039;t mean they will take that off of your credit report and the best way is to go thru them.

What do you guys think is the best way to handle this? I mean credit counselors are out to make money too.

Paying debtors without the %26quot;middleman%26quot;?apply for a loan

Take all of your bills with you to your bank and see if they will put together a debt consolidation plan.

You may need a good credit rating with your bank however.

That way they will give you a loan to pay all of your bills.

They will charge you interest however but I imagine it will be lower than a %26quot;middleman%26quot;

That comes from personal experience.

You should be very proud of yourself for doing this. I highly recommend you visit daveramsey.com.

Fact you don%26#039;t NEED a credit counselor. First step write a budget. Step two Call your creditors and ask for lower interest because you%26#039;ve been paying consistently and on time. Then organize your credit cards with lowest balance to highest balance. Pay as much as possible to the lowest balance credit card. When it is paid off pay the the take that payment and add what you%26#039;ve been paying to the next card. Do this to each card till they are all paid off. Sell some personal belongings and start working harder to pay off debt.

The borrower is slave to the lender.
