For customer service issues do you perfer to speak to an American?

I am looking for a good mileage credit card and would like my customer service agent to be an American, (yes I can tell) also I rather not pay a fee for the card but may consider given what the card offers. If you do not know of any just answer the original question and disregard the details.

For customer service issues do you perfer to speak to an American?student loan

1. I like to have someone who can speak clearly in the language i subscribe to.

2. I expect someone who pronounce well, and be well articulate.

3. I don%26#039;t expect to have someone with bad language skills in customer service.

I understand you - but we have to blame the employer for NOT selecting the best candidates and in most cases Big companies hire anyone to cut costs. Some Large communications companies are opening call centres outside the USA ...so Blame the CORPORATE WORLD FOR NOT HIRING THE BEST CANDIDATE.

I would like to add: That if a company is based in the USA I would like it to hire people who are Amercians. Companies within a specific territory should promote, hire and employ people from its citizenship first !

yes..not some guy named Bob with an Indian accent..|||No, I prefer to speak to someone that can handle my issue, it doesn%26#039;t matter where they are from~|||ok...when u call to get one just ask for an american! and get a card that doesnt have an anual fee good luck|||Yes.|||who cares?|||Yes, I do. It is not a matter of prejudice, I just think Americans are easier for an American to understand.|||yes can%26#039;t understand them otherwise|||Yes. I have actually asked to be transferred to a %26quot;person whose 1st language is English%26quot; because I couldn%26#039;t understand the poor guy. Hope I didn%26#039;t hurt his feelings.|||Yes, I prefer to speak to American CSRs. It may sound bad but its a preference. Its difficult to distinguish accents over the phone sometimes. I know being bilingual is a plus in that line of work but it just annoys me most often.|||I do, and I hope that does not make me a bad person.

I just have problems understanding people with accents. I had to do banking one time and this guy%26#039;s accent was so thick I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. It was probably just as stressful to him. So it less stressful if I can have an American, at least for the important business dealings.

Sorry|||I always prefer to speak to an american. I dont think thats gonna happen anymore because whenever you call you get a foreign answer. One time I called aol because I had some problems with the internet and when they answered the phone I got a %26quot;how can I help you today mate?%26quot; I didnt call australia, I called the U.S. of A.|||I%26#039;m an Aussie, and nothing frustrates me more than ringing a customer service line, to find it being transferred to a call centre in India. No offence to these people, but if I say NO I generally mean NO and would you please listen carefully to the question put to you. As for unsolicited calls coming in - please don%26#039;t be offended if I don%26#039;t want your service, free phone, or to answer your survey - I really just don%26#039;t have the time...|||I do actually prefer them to speak english and speak it relatively well...there%26#039;s nothing more irritating then not understanding a word the person says and before you know it....you%26#039;ve signed yourself up for a lifetime of some service you don%26#039;t know anything about and have bought a boat....|||I prefer English speaking, yes. If I can%26#039;t understand them...or they can%26#039;t understand me...I know I%26#039;m not coming out the other side with a good deal!

It%26#039;s hard to say where you will find one every time...but first, check where the credit card is based out of, then go from there. Do most of your detail and rate shopping online. If you get someone with a thick accent who sounds like a %26quot;scripter%26quot; pre-programmed with basic responses...ask for someone else or hang up and call again. However, a lot of companies are outsourcing their call centers to other countries...hence the problem. Good luck!|||Mostly definitely...Especially if I am paying to have their card I want to be able to understand the person that I am calling for customer service and not have to repeat myself or try to interpret what they are trying to tell me in their version of English.|||I don%26#039;t know how a person could recommend a company to you and guarantee that the the customer service rep who answers your call is American. But to answer your question, I really don%26#039;t care what their nation of origin is, as long as they are not an idiot. I have had too many experiences with customer service reps that couldn%26#039;t figure out what my question was, no matter how simply it was stated, or were incapable of giving a cohesive anser that actually matched the question. I have had waaaaay too many conversations that consisted of me repeating my question while they gave me useless information, then asked about 10 minutes in, %26quot;What was your question again?%26quot; And it doesn%26#039;t seem to matter what country they are from, idiots come from all over the world.|||American or someone who can speak proper english..If you have an account with a bank, checking or savings, they usually can give you a great card that will fit your lifestyle.|||I prefer talking to somebody who isn%26#039;t American. Many American customer service representatives are rude or act like you%26#039;re bothering them by asking them to do their job. Also... it%26#039;s fun to talk to somebody outside of the country. Where is everybody else%26#039;s sense of adventure? In America we need to get used to talking to and learning to understand people with foreign accents. There are a lot of first generation immigrants here who still have the accents of their country of origin. It%26#039;s not hard if you%26#039;re patient.

I have a 642 credit score, where can i get a business loan?

I have the opportunity to purchase a restaurant for a great price. Current owners have to sell now due to health. I have a credit score of 642 due to high balanced credit cards. All debts are current, no foreclosures. Credit cards used for need not pleasure. I%26#039;m having a problem getting a loan. Current owners have kept terrible records so the one company that was considering me, backed out. I have been in the business for 15 years and my fiance for 25 years. I need 45K to purchase and 15K for working capitol. Business is located in downtown area near plenty of businesses and government buildings. I can not offer home equity or a large down payment. I am currently working three jobs to raise money but owners are working hard to sell. I don%26#039;t want to loose this opportunity.

Looking for someone to take a chance on me.

Any suggestions?

Having just opened a restaurant myself I think it%26#039;s best to look a some type of federal grant for small business ,or if you belong to a credit union they are always helpful with loans or maybe a smaller bank . also you can liquidate some of they owners things like stuff that you want be using or needs to upgrade, but if you have about $250 dollars to spare you can hire a grant writer to help you get money . and your credit score is pretty fair!!

How do i actually do this, what are the steps require?

I heard that by having someone add your name onto their credit card, then never use it then you will start to get offers for credit cards, and you will have the same credit history that the person has. And it is all legal. But get someone who trust you, that has good credit.

How do i actually do this, what are the steps require?mortgage loan

Yes you can do that. I wouldn%26#039;t recommend being added as a %26quot;joint%26quot; on the account though. What you are talking about is being an authorized user.

If you are added as a joint user, you will be held liable for any charges the primary user racks up, if something should happen to the primary user. As an authorized user, you will not be held liable.

When the person who adds you to their card calls the credit card company to add you, have them request that the account be reported on your credit reports. It may take a few months before it starts to report. If you don%26#039;t see it being reported by the 3rd month, call the credit card company again and request they report.

Be sure that the cards you are added to have a great history and low utilization. Whatever history and utilization that card has will report the same on your credit reports.

Once it starts reporting, then try to get your own cards.

Try to get a good balance of major credit cards, store cards and personal loans.

Once you do that, and keep current, you should have an excellent score. (that is if you don%26#039;t have any negatives reporting now)

don%26#039;t believe it%26#039;s possible. in order to secure new cards from anyone, you need to provide YOUR social security number. You could use their SSN but then it would be identity theft and therefore not legal. if this was possible then everyone would be doing it. but you would never have the same credit as the person who allowed you to be added to their credit. just wouldn%26#039;t work.|||As a matter of fact YOU CAN do it. That is how many parents create a credit history for their kids.

The person with GOOD credit adds you as a co-borrower when applying and this will show as a joint account in both persons report. You will no have ALL the same credit history but you will have the same credit history on that account. This will help you in gettin a good fico score.

If you apply for a card on your own they will see that even though its a joing account is is in good condition.

You can definitely try this method BUT there has to be trust and of course a good credit behind it.

If you are just getting started you could also obtain a secured credit card from your local bank or a store credit card. After a few months you will be able to get a normal credit card on your own.|||Not only is it possible, but it is done widely. Just choose wisely.|||This is not true...at least partually

Yes you will start getting credit card offers but if you have no credit history or really bad one you will be declined anyway

You will not get hte same creadit history as the other person that is the lie part

Credit cards:Interest on Life of Balance transfers?

I applied for a Barclaycard, as it had an offer of 5.9% for the life of balance transfers. Having spoken to customer services there, with the intention of transferring a balance from another card, they told me that the 5.9% offer meant that the interest would be charged on the full amount I transfer, until it is all paid off, even if I have paid some off. So if I transfer 锟?000, and pay off 锟?00 after a month, I am being charged interest on 锟?000 still, rather than 锟?00. Have I understood this correctly, and is this usual practice?

Thanks

John

Credit cards:Interest on Life of Balance transfers?unsecured loan

That might be the case but you%26#039;re right, it sounds a little off. The understanding I have for %26quot;life of the balance%26quot; transfers is probably what you thought initially -

the rate of 5.9% won%26#039;t be raised or lowered for the amount you transferred. Now, if you make additional purchases the rate may be different but never for the balance transfer.

call them back and/or read the fine print.

Credit cards:Interest on Life of Balance transfers?

Not usual. Are you certain that you understood that correctly?

Often your scenario means that the transfer would be subject to 5.9 % interest until it was paid, not subject to change, up or down.

Bear in mind the %26quot;catch%26quot; in these.

If you make any additional new charges, which no doubt carries a higher interest rate on the card, your payments will FIRST be applied to the transfer, at the lower interest rate.

This means that for however long it takes to pay off the transfer, any new charges will just sit there accumulating the higher interest rate, compounded. No amount will be applied to those charges until the transfer is paid off.

Getting rid of junk mail?

I get so much junk mail and I never sign up for anything. I rarely ever give my address out and if I do it is to a important company. I get offers for credit cards and advo and all kinds of crap is there anyway I can have this stop or at least get like half of the junk mail. The credit card ones scare me because I get so many of them sometimes I don%26#039;t rip them up and I don%26#039;t want identity theft to happen to me.

Getting rid of junk mail?student loan consolidation

On of the best things that I did is to %26quot;opt out%26quot;. This greatly reduced my junk mail. I don%26#039;t get %26quot;you%26#039;ve been approved%26quot; offers any more.

When you opt out - you prevent these agencies from getting any of your credit info. Since they have no idea what kind of credit you have -- they don%26#039;t pre-approve you for a bunch of junk you don%26#039;t want.

It also does not cost you anything to opt out.

Here%26#039;s a link to the Federal Trade Commission for information.

Getting rid of junk mail?

loan

Yes.

1. Change your address to a mail drop like postnet or UPS store.

2. Change your address directly with the companies and individuals you want to have your new address. Do NOT place a forwarding address registration with your post office.

3. Don%26#039;t accept mail at your house anymore, and tell your postman to send back any mail that comes to your house.

4. Change your ID to reflect the new address too.

5. Never give your home address to anyone.

Most junk mail is screened for residences. Junk mailers don%26#039;t want to mail to a box, so they will eliminate you from their lists.

Best also if the box is in a different zip code if possible, than your house. Nobody needs to know where you sleep to do business with you.

On utility bills, tell them you have a new mailing address and need it on the bills too. The bills will show that address and the service address, which is useful if you need to show a utility bill for proof of address to a school, etc.|||Usually junk mail comes with SAEs for you to return your %26#039;application%26#039;. The company that sends them out has to pay for any items that are sent back. Rather than filling in the application, just tear it in half and put it in the envelope. Or, if you feel really vindictive, fill it in with fictitious details or rub it in the remains of last night%26#039;s smelly curry. The company will then have to pay for the postage and their staff will all be quitting, disgusted by the contents of the mail. If enough people do this sort of thing, it can severely affect the junk mail company%26#039;s profits or even put them out of business.

Needless to say, I am skeptical. On to the observation. Almost all of these answers posted here are questionable to me. Look at each answer and you be the judge. Lending money is very risky business. Wiped off credit report in 7 years?

OK, so I had a car repossessed about 6 or 6 1/2 years ago. It is about a $7,500 debt and has been sent to more than one collection agency and they%26#039;ve offered me a 50% settlement. I haven%26#039;t made contact with anyone in probably 6 years.

My question is, is should I pay this money because I%26#039;m ready to start a new chapter in my life that includes rebuilding my credit or should I just wait for this to be erased off my credit(which will be when)? As for doing the right thing and paying a debt, I was scammed by this company so me paying the money has nothing to do with them and everything to do with my personal credit intentions.

Also, I don%26#039;t plan on buying any big purchases, i.e. house or car, in the next two years at least and don%26#039;t need credit cards, so is waiting the best options?

Wiped off credit report in 7 years?bank loan

The statute of limitations (SOL) for collecting on a repo falls under the UCC with a 4 year SOL. The SOL starts to run the day the vehicle was sold that created the deficiency.

The reporting SOL for a repo is 7 years from the day the vehicle was sold that created the deficiency.

You are past the collecting SOL. You are not legally bound to pay.

If you want to pay, send them a debt validation (DV) letter first, make sure that not only are they requesting payment for the legally correct amount but also make sure that they have a legal right to collect the debt (sometimes, especially with older debts, collection agency%26#039;s may try to collect on a debt they have no right to collect on)

After their validation, send them a pay for delete (PFD) letter if they are reporting on your credit reports. Send everything certified mail return receipt requested (CMRRR)

Keep in mind that if you make a payment agreement with them to pay a portion of the debt as payment in full, you may re-set the collecting SOL and they may then legally sue you for the remainder or sell the remainder to another collection agency.

Or, you can send them a DV, CMRRR, and after they respond or 35 days have passed from the date they signed the green card - send them a SOL letter CMRRR. A SOL letter basically tells them the debt is past SOL and they cannot collect on it - or sue.

If they are reporting on your credit reports and they are reporting inaccurately, you have a legal right to dispute the inaccuracies in their tradelines

You might look in my profile and do some reading on the links in there.

Learn your rights and how to use them.

It can vary from 4 years to 10 years before something is taken off your credit report. It depends on what the actual debt is and what state you are in. There may be other variables as well.|||Well I have experience in this one (unfortunately). Many years ago an ex-wife left me with some serious debt and over the years of course those companies sought to collect with me using every threatening tactic in the book. Ultimately, I knew after 7 years (as long as I didnt%26#039; start paying them!!!) it would all be off my credit report. And, I%26#039;m happy to report that%26#039;s exactly what happened. Hang in there buddy.|||what happened to Adam B, happened to me. Bad stuff that I had on my credit report from way back when I was in college did get wiped off my credit report. You cant send them a single payment because the 7 years start from the last payment that they have received from you.

Also, If you settle a debt and you negotiate $600 or more they will write it off on their end as a loss AND the IRS may send you a w2 on that money you saved. be careful.|||Wait it out...and in the meantime, try to get something good going on your credit report if you haven%26#039;t already.|||You should try to pay it off, so you dint feel like you have something hanging on you. You need to try to settle with payments , or full amount around the original you financed for. Dint settle for paying twice, or even a quarter some that the original amount.. That%26#039;s the way to do it.

How do we change social secrutiy/credit histories?

My wife and her sister%26#039;s social security numbers were switched by accident when they were very young. My wife has maintained almost perfect credit with several cards, successfully paid off loans, etc. While she doesn%26#039;t have excessive debt, my wife%26#039;s sister has had no credit cards or anything on her credit history.

How can we switch their credit history and social security information? Who do we go to and where do we find them? The numbers themselves were switched already; that was the easy part. Are we going to need a lawyer, and if so what kind?

Thanks for any help you can offer

How do we change social secrutiy/credit histories?loan officer

That%26#039;s an interesting story. I assume you are talking about the USA.

Wrong social security number information can be corrected, although it may take some time. You will almost certainly have to submit to the three credit agencies and to your credit-card issuers an explanatory letter from your Social Security office.

You can look up %26quot;Social Security Administration%26quot; in your local telephone book.

Usually a mismatch is noticed by the IRS and notified to an employer. Also, tax returns have been verified as to social security numbers of all taxpayers and dependents for the past several years. It%26#039;s astonishing that you have not heard from them. Perhaps the names are similar. Discrepancies of last names of a spouse are often ignored on the assumption that they changed by marriage, but not first names.

The situation in other countries, especially the UK, is quite different. Errors there can go unnoticed for years. Decades even. And if you didn%26#039;t save your P60 (like a W2) you could be out of luck and lose pension credit.

Best to leave it alone or face a perpetual nightmare.|||I don%26#039;t understand what you mean when you say the numbers were switched. Cancel flight?

What is the typical penalty for cancelling a flight? If I were to book a flight and later want to cancel, what is the penalty? Are there credit cards that offer some kind of insurance for this?

Cancel flight?quick loan

The typical penalty for cancelling really depends on what airline you are traveling with, what kind of ticket you have, or who you bought it through. Change fees are usually around $25-100 if you have a non-refundable ticket, and can be used in the future (usually 1 year from original date of travel). Some airlines rquire that you call a certain period ahead of your flight to cancel or you lose it... If you have a refundable ticket usually there is no fee. I would definitely suggest to call the airline or travel agent you purchased your ticket through to see the penalties.

As for travel insurance, some airlines offer them some dont...also if you book through a travel agent or online travel agency they will typically offer insurance. Good luck!

Cancel flight?

loan

No credit cards, it depends about the time before the flight you cancel, let%26#039;s say you cancel 24 hours before the flight, they keep 40% of the flight payment. If you cancel a week before, 15%, a month before, 2%, understand?|||Depends on the ticket type.Low fare are usually non refundable! Call Airline for rules regarding your ticket.

Illness and bereavements are usually refunded with documentation.

If refundable there is normally $25 to $75.00 fee

But again all airlines are different best to call and ask them directly.|||There is no %26#039;typical%26#039; penalty as it all depends on the type of airfare that has been purchased. Some are fully refundable, some are refundable for a fee ranging anywhere from $200 to 50% of the fare, others are non-refundable. The non-refundable fares are the most commonly purchased ones.

The airlines will usually allow non-refundable tickets to be used as a credit towards future travel. When you want to rebook, the value of the ticket is applied towards the new trip and you pay any difference in the airfares plus a change penalty. The change penalty can be upwards of $25, depending on the fare and airline. This option is usually only available with completely unused tickets. With partially used tickets, you usually have to keep the same routing and just pay the change penalty and any increase in fare.

Some credit cards will have insurance incorporated with it. From my experience, it is usually cards like American Express and Gold/Platinum cards. If you just have a standard credit card, chances are there is no insurance wtih it, but you should check with your credit card company anyway. If your credit card does not have insurance, you could always purchase cancellation and interruption travel insurance. These insurance policies are fairly cheap and worth having, in my opinion.|||Most tickets are non-refundable. However, you can often buy travel insurance at a cost of 5 - 10% of the cost of the ticket. Many airlines offer this when you book on their website, as do online travel agencies like Orbitz. The insurance will pay you back if there is a cancellation for cause (like illness, family death, etc.) Generally just deciding you %26quot;later want to cancel%26quot; wouldn%26#039;t be enough for an insurance claim, though.|||If you are speaking about US Domestic flights then you must check with the source from where you purchased your ticket, the airline on which you were traveling and the specific rules of the ticket you purchased. Some airlines is use or loose. Period. Some airlines, if you cancel prior to flight time, then you have from 1 year from the date the ticket was issued or the first date of travel to use the ticket towards the purchase of a new ticket. Of course there%26#039;s an airline imposed exchange fee for this anywhere from $0.00 to $100.00. So this is really not a question that can be simply answered. Sorry.

Is it bad to have an unpaid debt on your credit file?

I have a $350 Cingular phone bill from 2004 which is with a collection agency called AFNI right now. They offered me 50% off as settlement a while back but I just held back. Now though I am trying to fix my credit and this is the LAST debt on my credit file which remains delinquent and unpaid.

Anyway...from what I have been reading here on yahoo answers if your delinquent debt is more than 2 years old, which mine is obviously, then it doesn%26#039;t hurt your FICO score that much.

OK..now what about specific customized FICO scores--like the ones that they use just for store cards or credit cards? Do those specialized FICO scores smack you really hard for 120+ day delinquent collections account? More so than the %26quot;generic%26quot; FICO score? Also do some stores like target, bestbuy, sears just say NO to you if you have a delinquent collections account, no matter how high your FICO?

Is it bad to have an unpaid debt on your credit file?fast loan

Here%26#039;s a tip for you. AFNI is a very sleazy low rate collection agency. Try sending them a demand to validate letter, and that will usually make them go away.

Is it bad to have an unpaid debt on your credit file? loan

Unpaid debts do affect your FICO score, but you are right in stating that they don%26#039;t affect them as heavily the older they get. If you were to pay it probably wouldn%26#039;t do too much for your score, if that is your primary concern. The fact that it went to collections is already damaging the score.

That being said, I am a believer in paying for the debts that you owe. You may be able to bargain with them to get the amount even lower. I, too, would do the debt validation first to make sure they have properly purchased the debt. They may tell you things like you will be possibly sued, etc, but they won%26#039;t sue over that amount. And there can%26#039;t be any garnishment of your wages until a judgment is given, which more than likely will never happen.

My recommendation is to continue to offer them 25% of the balance until they take it. If they say they can%26#039;t accept just get off the phone and make the same offer in another week. Eventually they will take it.|||They are probably calling because the state statue of limitations is about to run out to collect on the debt. Do not pay it. The reason, if you make payment on your credit report the debt will be on there seven years from the date of payment. Right now you are three or four years into the seven years already. Why would you want to start the seven year reporting history on the debt all over again? The seven year period of reporting ends at the last activity on the account. You will be hurting yourself by paying. Also, as for some stores will not give you credit because of collections BS. I have two collections on my account and have never been turned down on any line of credit. Including Best Buy and a 150,000 dollar business loan with no collateral. Yes, my credit score is high over 780. Tell them to get packing. If you feel guilty. Donate the money to charity you would have paid them. They just want to reset the statue of limitaions.|||Yes, but you can get it removed read this article http://www.adviceontime.com/Credit/Credi...|||In your sitation,I would like to suggest you have a look here.http://debt-consolidation.featured-resou...

Things to annoy "The Man"?

I get offers for credit cards all the time. My brother suggested that instead of ripping up the letter and throwing it away, I should rip up the application, put the remains in the envelope, and mail it to the credit card company. Bad credit choices in past.?

I was very stupid with credit while i was younger. I never paid on five different credit cards. There is now five years since the last activity is being reported. I want to purchase a house within the next year and cant wait the seven years that it takes. They all say paid collection or charge-off. Any ideas on how to approach the compainies so they get some money back and upgrade my account? What percentage should I offer them as a settlement. I keep hearing they sell the accounts for pennies on the dollar. Any idea how much they really get?

One of the accounts is an open collection account that is reported every month. Should I leave it alone also?

Bad credit choices in past.?consolidation loans

Credit is nothing more than an agreement, a promise. If you failed to pay in the past, and you want to get someone to loan to you again, you have to repay what you borrowed. If you are going to instead see how little you can pay to eliminate your past debt, your new lender has got to think that you will treat him the same way.

Pay your debt...or suffer the consequences. As you said, you made some bad previous choices. Either own up to them (and pay) or work through the various options of being a renter until your bankruptcy is discharged, etc.

It%26#039;s hard to get a new lender to believe you are credit-worthy (aka, %26quot;trustworthy%26quot;) if your primary goal is to *NOT* pay your debt in full.

Bad credit choices in past.?

loan

You can conctact each of the companies and they will more than likely offer you a settlement amount. Once that is paid they will consider your account paid in full. Your credit report will still reflect the late payments but will show that it is paid (even if you paid the amount in full your credit report will still show your late payments). I think that trying to pay some is better then none at all. If you start now making arrangements and stay in good standing with all your current creditors for the next year then when you go to buy a house it should be o.k. You may be faced with a higher rate but you can eventually refinance once you have built your FICO score up.|||If you do try to pay any of the credit companies, your credit report will show the most recent date of activity on those accounts, which means suddenly you have taken bad credit from 5 years ago and made it today%26#039;s bad credit. You%26#039;re in a really bad situation either way. Probably you need to try and give yourself good credit by getting a secured credit card - the easiest way is through your bank. Even though the card is secured, your use of that card is reported to the credit agencies and will show up on your credit report. Definitely pay off the collection agency since it shows current...but think twice about the previous accounts - you are guaranting that you will have more bad credit for seven years from the date you finally pay all those accounts - and btw, most will not show paid in full. You do not have a good chance of buying a house right now or in a year - your only chance is if you have a really sizeable down payment (30-50% or more) and are willing to pay very high rates. A co-signer with great credit will help, but is no guarantee. A quick way to help pop your FICO is to get a person with a really great credit score to add you to their credit card accounts - their credit history gets added to yours.

It is screwed up, but paying those bad loans will make your situation worse. It will kill your FICO score, becuase it will make the deliquency current. Your FICO score may have recovered since your mistakes.

You probably want to work with a mortgage broker who can look at various lenders with various programs. You will probably have to pay a little more than someone who has perfect credit. Make sure even if your rate is not great, you do not pay any points. In a couple of years when the deliquencies have dropped off your credit report, you will want to look at refinancing.

I know this might sound hard to believe, but everything VA treasures wrote to you is true. I am a mortgage broker who deals with this sort of situation every day. The first thing you should do is check your FICO scores. A mortgage broker can provide you with this information. Good luck!

How can I increase my credit score?

I am twenty-two years old and my FICO score from Experian was a 738 four or five months ago. I have:

1. a close to $75,000 mortgage with an initial balance of $83,000

2. four credit cards with a total limit of close to $55,000 (only one of which has a balance [$8,000 on it but at 0% that I will pay off before any interest accrues])

3. about $21,000 in student loans that are not yet in repayment (I am finishing college soon)

4. no auto loan payments (paid cash for my wife%26#039;s car and mine)

I am trying to increase my credit score so I can get the very BEST rate on a HELOC (home equity line of credit) so I can begin my real estate career! Hopefully, I can find something lower than prime - 1.00% because I have already been offered that.

How can I increase my credit score?school loans

The number one credit killer is debt.

-Kill the 8000 and your credit will jump fifty points or more. Agree that you should still use the cards at lease once each month.

-Consolidate your student loans. Normally, student loans are multiple in nature. Even though consolidating them doesn%26#039;t change the balance, it does mean a higher credit score because you have less accounts with balances on them. They should get their own category in a credit report, but they don%26#039;t. I know, I know, who makes up all these rules.

-Time - inquiries stay on for two years so you must wait them out. If you have any newer credit cards (within two years), this also hurts your score. You need to wait them out.

Best thing to do is not spend what u dont have... if u cant pay off ur credit card bill in full for the month then don%26#039;t buy that stuff... (except for mortgage).

The only thing u should have a debt on is no interest financing and anything that increases in value like real estate.

Try to use less than 20% of ur credit (don%26#039;t max out ur cards), increase ur salary, make sure to use all of ur credit cards at least once a month (cancel the ones u dont use).

good luck!|||I wouldn NOT suggest you to take out the HELOC against your house. Especially you owe $55,000 in credit card (even with $8,000 will be pay off with 0% interest rate), that you still owe $47,000 in credit card. What is the interest rate? The minimum payment for your credit card is like $1,100 a month...and don%26#039;t forget that once you finish school, your $21,000 student will kick in in re-payment status. You need to focus on paying off the credit card debt and then your student loan first before you start your real estate career (is that what the HELOC money is for?). I know you are asking to raise your credit score, but that is a very BAD idea.

Debt consolidation is an option, and you should look into it. Just be careful about WHAT you%26#039;re getting into. Some plans, because of their higher APR rates get you into more trouble than you were.

Also, some lenders look poorly upon it later on. Some institutions believe that it really is a black mark. It will depend upon the types of deals that your particular company or lender work out, and of course, your own individual circumstance. For some with absolutely NO way out, debt consolidation is a welcome option.

Take a good hard look at all the options and plans offered, and don%26#039;t let a single company pressure you into something you just can%26#039;t do. Make sure that you%26#039;re comfortable with the plan offered before you commit to it.

In any case, it doesn%26#039;t hurt to investigate debt consolidation as an option. It doesn%26#039;t cost you anything to find out more information about it.

If you want a place to start your investigating, there%26#039;s information and listings for debt consolidation providers on the page listed below. You%26#039;ll probably find something of use there:

What is a line of credit?auto financing

If you can switch from high credit card interest to lower rates on a line of credit, it could work to your advantage.

Just make sure you keep up with monthly payments.

A line of credit gives you a miximum amount of available credit which is nice to know you have in emergencies.

Never go close to that maximum line!

Try to stay well below it.

What is a line of credit?

Just because you have a line of credit does not mean you have to use it. Yes, I would get approved for it but I would keep it in case of emergency and be sure what the handling fees and administrative fees are and be certain of the interest and that it cannot go up|||A line of credit is essentially a pre-approved loan.

Unlike typical loans you don%26#039;t have to take the money now and start paying it back with interest, you can take it at your convenience.

It depends if the LOC is secured, eg. Home Equity Line Of Credit (HELOC), most people leave it as an emergency fund unless it is used to improve the home. That way if you default on your loans your home doesn%26#039;t automatically get taken away...It%26#039;ll probably still happen but it a longer journey for CC which allows you more time to figure out what to do.

With horrible credit it will be difficult for you to get one. The rate of interest will be high. You can consult with a debt consolidator for help and see if they can arrange for you some debt consolidation loans. Fill online forms and get some Quotes and see if you get one. With a 560 credit score, I could do financing up to 95% of the purchase price. This means you would be coming in with the 5% down (but depending on your area - county and income - you may qualify for a down payment assistance program). Your rental history being current is really good, that will help you qualify for a better rate. In the meantime, I would suggest you opt out of pre-screened offers (this improves my buyers credit scores in less than 60 days). It%26#039;s free and only takes a few minutes. Opt Out Electronically for 5 years:

GOOD LUCK!|||You are going to pay KILLER INTEREST on any mortgage you MIGHT be able to get. My advice is to read Dave Ramsey%26#039;s book The Total Money Makeover. www.daveramsey.com

Good Luck|||Get out your phone book and look up mortgage brokers who have ads that say, %26quot;Challenged Credit%26quot; or something similar.

At 560 you can PROBABLY get a loan-- but it will be an 80/20 (two loans for one house) with HIGH rates (probably equal about 8-10%) and a prepayment penalty-- you have to pay THOUSANDS if you refinance within a 0-5 year period.

Every 20 points or so you can get your MIDDLE SCORE up, you%26#039;ll move into a better loan bracket. A good mortgage broker can tell you what to do to get that improved-- and often times they are QUICK fixes-- pay down a balance on a card to below 35% and you might get quite a few points added.

Also-- pull your credit reports. DISPUTE EVERY BAD ITEM. Even legitimate stuff can be removed!!! I went from 6 collection accounts to ONE. I had 4 accounts with one or more late pays-- and now i only have one. They were all %26#039;correct%26#039; but I%26#039;d been doing well and payig everything and the companies just didn%26#039;t disagree with my disputes. I jumped almost 100 points and have been doing reallyw ell for a long time-- and just got a mortgage with the best available rates.

Give yourself 60 days to do the disputes. If you order your reports online you can dispute them online and get the results within 30 days-- and hten dispute any bad ones again that didn%26#039;t get deleted. I got mine thru www.Truecredit.com becuase I can get all 3 bureaus reports for $14.99 a month-- AND i can renew the reports daily.|||sure you can .The interest rates will be in the higher fives and lower sixes .write to me at kishaloy_bhowmick@yahoo.com and i will provide you the detailed information.

What kind of mortgage interest rate can I get with a 660 credit score?

I have a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy that was discharged 3 years ago. Will mortgage lenders even consider me for a loan of $100,000, with a gross yearly income of $75,000?

Since my bankruptcy, all of my payments have been on time, paying off credit cards (I have two) monthly. I have a school loan paid up to date, and no other bills. I check my credit score monthly, and for the past 6 months my score has been hovering around 660. I know it takes time, but what may lenders be willing to offer me with my current status? Good......

Clean up credit .....Lexington, Ovation or do it yourself letters off of net.

Pay extra on all credit cards, student loans to build up your fico. Do NOT apply for any new credit. Opt out of all pre-approval nonsense. These soft and hard inquires bring down the fico.

Your 660 is a decent score......the higher your score the lower your interest rate will be.

Most lenders will give a 100% LTV no money down loan for 7% if cash flow is tight. Put 25% down and with your 660 fico you can get a much lower interest rate than 7%.

I believe I have been victim of fraud. How can I protect myself from further identity or credit dama

A friend referred me to a travel agency for a good deal on round trip to the caribean. I purchased a round trip for about $100 less that online cheapest offer. However, the suspicious thing is I paid with check because they didn%26#039;t take credit cards. The agent cashed the check almost immediately because by the time I called my bank to cancel the check the money was out. Continental Airlines (website and over the phone) told me that the confirmation # I got from the travel agent was invalid. The travel agent seems to be long gone. She is not answering the phone.

She has my Driver license info. What can I do to protect myself from further damage?

Please, please help.

I believe I have been victim of fraud. How can I protect myself from further identity or credit damage?yes loans

First of all, file a police report right away. This will help document the crime and help any recovery efforts later on.

Close your checking account and report to your bank that you%26#039;re a fraud victim. She has your account number and can initiate electronic withdrawals from your account. Don%26#039;t waste time with freezes or alerts on your account. The lag time on those may allow her to take out more money or it might inconvenience you when you try to use your account. Close it right away and get a new account number.

Call the three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Tell them that someone has your personal info and ask them to place alerts on your file. The alert means that these credit agencies have to call you to confirm anytime someone tries to apply for credit with your info. This will help prevent more potential fraud.

Go to the DMV with the police report and tell them what happened. Some states will put an alert on your file and some states may even let you have a new number.

And most of all...be diligent! Monitor your bank account daily if possible and monitor your credit reports once a year. Call your bank and creditors right away if something doesn%26#039;t look right!

No new accounts may be opened unless they contact you first at a phone number you designate .

As far as the check , that is theft and should be reported to the Police .

Was your friend part of this gypsy scam ?

%26gt;|||Alerting the credit bureaus is a really good idea. I would also have your bank help you close your checking account and open up a new one so that the account number on the check you wrote would no longer be valid. The %26quot;travel agent%26quot; has now gotten your account number and may try to create fraudulent checks. Also, talk to the bank about the fact that you were the victim of fraud like this. They may not be able to do anything because you actually did write the check, but it never hurts to see. They might be able to give you back the money.|||First, call Experian at 888-397-3742 to place a fraud alert on your credit reports. The are required by law to share your request with the other 2 credit bureaus. Now if anyone (including you) attempts to open an account anywhere using your Social Security number, you%26#039;ll receive a phone call seeking your permission. An initial fraud alert lasts at least 90 days. An extended alert locks your file for 7 years.

Second, watch your credit report like a hawk on a regular basis is the best way to insure your identity has not been compromised or stolen. Each of the credit card bureaus is required to give you 1 free copy of your credit report each year. To obtain 1, go to annualreditreport.com.

Third, call the police. By filing a report you%26#039;ll have a much easier time recovering your good name and credit rating with your creditors.

Do you mean Ernst and Young?|||don%26#039;t touch them with a barge pole. People with adverse credit are the ones who get hammered the most. I know of people who apply for credit on line because they have bad credit then receive calls to say that they have been approved for loans but they have to ring a premium rate number to give a few more details. They ring the premium number, kept on for about half an hour and then told to ring back in an hour and they will be told if they have been successful. Get the picture - first they%26#039;re told, yes they%26#039;ve got the loan, then, it%26#039;s still not been approved. These are not the lenders themselves, they are brokers and the scam is you are paying premium rates for nothing. Anyhow if you ask them what its all about again they say they are the brokers but that they have lenders very interested in you who will contact you. Sure they do, people who will give you credit at 59% (shark loans) and no-one in their right mind should borrow at that amount no matter how much you need money, and then there%26#039;s Anderson Young. They look good on paper, but they want money up front!!!! That should ring bells. Again they are not lenders, but brokers and that%26#039;s their fee for GUARANTEEING you a bank account and credit card. Bunk. if you question them they cannot guarantee anything. They may get you a bank account, but what you%26#039;ve been asking for is a loan. You definitely will not get a credit card, but they may give so called advice on how to repair your credit history, which you can do yourself,if it needs repairing.Probably doesn;t because that%26#039;s why you went to someone who advertises for bad credit risks in the first place. Stay clear, you%26#039;ll only lose money.
