Should I spend money I don't have, like the government does?

I have a little money, and some credit card debts. I was offered a job, but to take it I would have to buy suits, ties, shirts, etc. I%26#039;d also have to buy a car, or at least a monthly commuter pass. This could be a lot of money - more than I have. I would have to spend what I saved, as well as borrow some on my credit cards.

Rather than doing that, shouldn%26#039;t I just pay my credit cards and stay home? That way I wouldn%26#039;t run up a deficit like the Republicans did.

YES, this belongs in Politics and Government. YES, I am being sarcastic. YES, I am trying, by a somewhat extreme example, to introduce the idea of INVESTMENT. People who receive tax cuts don%26#039;t usually hide money under their mattresses. They either spend it or invest it.

The reason the economy is doing as well as it is, with HISTORIC tax revenues is because of tax cuts. The money is, as you said, being invested, generating taxable income and benefitting our economic growth. Or it is being spent, as witnessed by a HISTORIC consumer confidence index.

As far as your %26quot;job%26quot; is concerned, of course a temporary debt is OK as long as your income increases allowing you top pay off the debt sooner. The US is in debt and the GDP ballooned by 1 trillion dollars, allowing that debt to be paid off that much faster.

Well, unless you have a source to steal from, like the government does, I%26#039;d keep what you make in the wallet...Safeguarded from the government|||If you have credit card debt, you ARE spending money you don%26#039;t have.|||Deficit spending is a big problem in the U.S., not just with Government, but private citizens also. Then when the debt is too great they file bankruptcy. Good question.|||The problem here is the Government gets away with it. If you do it the Government will find you!|||I seriously think that we should have a warmonger tax.. most of us didn%26#039;t want or benefit from the money they%26#039;ve spent in any way.|||Why do all these simpletons miss the boat every-time, Congress commands the amount of money that gets printed! Most Republicans know tax payers have to pay the debt back. The Republicans prefer you pay it back not them.

BTW, Reagan invented a new form of math. In Reagan%26#039;s math a tax cut for the wealthy of say $400 million would result in Higher taxes being taken in by the Government.|||do what you need to do to get the job.
