Creditor won't lower interest rate. What to do?

A few yrs ago I made a purchase at Zales jewelry store. The offer was for 0% interest for 12 mos. Now, I still have a balance and have called the ph# on my Zales statement. The rep advised that 1) they cannot lower the interest rate because the lender is Citibank even though I pay Zales, and 2) even if they did have the authority to do so -they couldn%26#039;t- b/c I agreed to an intro offer. My int. rate is 24.99%. Is there any way around this? Should I ask for the ph # to Citi and ask them to lower it myself? All credit cards come with intro offers, and I have never had a problem with getting a lower int. rate before, why is this any different?? I%26#039;d appreciate any informational feedback. **P.S. Please don%26#039;t respond to this question with what I should have done...**

From what you have said it looks like the problem is the agreement between Zales and Citibank.

You are Zales customer and Zales is Citibanks customer therefore you must deal only with Zales.

What was the original amount and what is your current balance remaining?|||Call the credit card company that is offering you a low interest rate, and get that credit card and see if they would be willing to pay off the Zales, it would be best if it had 0%, just make sure to pay it off before the interest starts to accrue|||Try getting the number to citibank and seeing if you can get it lowered that way. I have never heard of a credit card not lowering the rate if you ask them to.|||Simple answer nothing. There is no mistake or confusion, they know what your rate is. Zales and Citibank have each others phone numbers, heck they may have even agreed on the terms of the program, ie charge you 24.99%.

You are grumpy now, check your default rate? If you have a payment come in from 5 to 1 days late, hello 27.73%, I just checked the Zales web site.

If Zales is running the customer service side of the product, I do not think Citibank would even be able to speak with you about the account.

Usually these retail cards have very set programs. Even standard Visa and MC programs do not have that much flexibility anymore.

Only thing is to try to get it paid off.
